There’s a kind of comfort that only exists at home. It’s the backdrop to the real stuff: the nappy changes, the coffee-making, morning cuddles, the art on your fridge- even the afternoon meltdowns. It’s where the real you lives and that’s why I love to photograph families in their own spaces. Not just for the light or the convenience, but because it’s you, it’s yours and it’s meaningful.

In-home sessions have a way of letting kids just be themselves. Forget unfamiliar studios, bright flashes, or someone waving a toy asking them to smile. Sure, I’m still a stranger in your space, but I take my time. I chat with them, ask questions, and we ease in at their pace. It’s calmer, more trusting, and often surprisingly fun — they’re less guarded, sometimes even proud to show me their world. It’s a little chaotic, too, in the best way. For parents, it’s a breath of fresh air: no rushing, no pressure to perform. And what I love most is that photographing at home invites real presence — with your kids, your partner, and your pets too.

I’ll leave you with one of my recent in home family sessions with the Dobson Family. These guys were moving from the first home they built together [and brought their babies home to] and they wanted me to document them in this special space so they could have images to remember it.
