Photographs that feel like home.

A Melbourne-based newborn and family photographer drawn to the quiet, honest beauty of everyday family life. I offer relaxed, natural in-home and outdoor sessions for those who care more about how it felt than how it looked.

I work with soft, natural light and a tender eye, photographing across Melbourne — from the leafy streets of Camberwell and Hawthorn to the sea breezes of the Bayside suburbs, and everywhere in between. Whether you're welcoming your first baby or chasing your third through the hallway in mismatched socks, I come to you — no rushing, no fuss.

You don't need to be perfect, you just need to show up

My sessions are filled with sleepy newborn cuddles, wrinkled toes, wild curls, and the quiet kind of chaos that says: this is real, and it’s yours. There’s no need to psych yourself up or deep clean the house — just show up as you are. I’ll help you find the softest light and the loveliest corners of your home, so your photos feel intimate, natural, and unmistakably you.

If you’re looking for a Melbourne newborn and family photographer who captures more than just smiles — someone who sees the soul in your story — I’d be honoured to work with you.

Your session will be slow, gentle, and completely pressure-free

Forget stiff poses and studio lights. My sessions move at your child’s pace, with plenty of play, snacks, and pauses for cuddles. I’m here to create space for real connection and beautifully imperfect moments — one cuppa tea at a time.

Natural light, always

Tender, timeless imagery — in homes across Melbourne

Emily Mazur, Melbourne

“Amy photographed our newborn and did a wonderful job. The whole experience was really relaxed and Amy was so kind and gentle, which was exactly what I needed as a new mum. The photos turned out even better than I could have hoped for and we are so happy! “

Jenna Densten, Victoria

“Amy is truly talented and brings real emotion into every shot. Her images are raw, real and natural. I literally shed a tear looking through her photos! I look forward to having Amy capture our future family milestones as her pictures really do tell a thousand words!"

Natalie Drum, Melbourne

“Amy is warm and kind, so very generous with her time and clearly brilliant at her craft. The photos received from our shoot are something we will treasure for years to come. They are natural, relaxed and so very ‘us’. It couldn’t have been a better experience. I’ll tell anybody who will listen that they need an Amy Oliver in their life!”

Katarina Britos, Melbourne

“Amy is a true professional and wonderful with children and babies, a true talent and I can see why she was so highly recommended! It was an investment that was hard to convince my husband on initially but afterwards all those concerns went away and she’s left us with a gift that’s worth more than money.”

Claire Swanton, Melbourne

“Amy has shot our family through all our new born babies (4)! She is amazing with our kids and somehow captures the individual personalities of each of them as well as the love between us. Her shots are natural, un-posed, and spontaneous and she works magic with light! We love her and we love her work. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough!”

Tegan  Mclellan, Melbourne

“Amy was incredible! The session was relaxing & fun. We were made to feel so comfortable! The images definitely made us Kim K ugly cry & will be absolutely treasured forever. We have recommended Amy to everyone we know & will definitely be using her again for future photos. A thousand times, thankyou Amy!”

Meaningful images captured of the early days and you don't even need to leave the house.

In-home newborn and family sessions usually run for around 1.5 hours. I leave space for feeds, cuddles, toddler meltdowns — all the beautifully real moments that make your story yours.

How long do sessions take?

03

Honestly? That’s most homes. You don’t need a magazine-perfect space. All I need is one good light source and your connection. I’ll guide you to the best spots in your home — clutter and chaos are welcome here. And just know, I've never been to a home I couldn't work my magic in!

What if my house is small, dark, or messy?

02

I photograph families all across Melbourne — from the leafy east to the inner city, bayside & beyond! If there’s a little pocket of window light and a wee bit of floor space, I’ll be there. Camberwell, Collingwood, Carlton, Brunswick, Hawthorn, Glen Iris, Richmond, Malvern, Camberwell, Kew, Heidelberg, Brighton, and beyond- no suburb is too far!

Where in Melbourne do you travel for in-home sessions?

What you might be wondering (faq)

You don't need to be perfect, you just need to show up

If you love those tiny, curly newborn photos, the first 1–2 weeks are best (babies are sleepier and less likely to have baby acne). But I’m always happy to wait until you feel ready — older newborns are just as beautiful. It’s all about what feels right for you.

Do we have to do the newborn shoot in the first 2 weeks? Can we wait until baby is older?

06

Ideally while you're still pregnant — we’ll pencil in a window around your due date. Then once baby arrives, we lock in a day between weeks 1–3 (or later if needed — I don’t follow strict “rules”).

When should I book a newborn session?

05

I’ll send you a simple styling guide if you need help, but know- I'm not trying to make you fit into any mould! I'll give you some gentle guidance about things that don't look great in photos (and things that do). But just 'do you' and make sure you feel comfortable.

What should we wear?

04

Still have questions? Reach out anytime!

I’m always happy to chat about your session or help you figure out if this is right for your family.

Keep it simple & I'll do the rest.

You don’t need a picture-perfect home or a perfectly styled outfit for beautiful photos, either! No deep cleaning, no stress! Whether we’re capturing moments in the cozy corners of your home or outside in the golden light, all I need is your trust, a little light, and the connection that already exists between you, it's much easier than you think!

Meet your photographer

I’m not just a photographer — I’m a mother of three who knows the messy, beautiful rhythm of family life from the inside out. I find meaning in the quiet, in-between moments — a stretch of afternoon light, a sleepy newborn curl, a shared look that says it all. I bring calm presence, gentle direction, judgement free respect for the season you’re in to every session.
